I feel very overwhelmed, proud and honoured to be appointed as Club Captain.
Many thanks to Terry, Carl and all Committee members for this privileged opportunity.
I have a great desire to work hard with management and committee to develop the club and improve it for members.
A little introduction on myself, I’ve been a member here for 12 years and had the honour of being Ladies Captain in 2017. I have 3 children, a son and 2 daughters, a granddaughter and a grandson due in the new year.
My chosen charity this year is Brain Research UK, a charity close to my heart. I live with a healthy brain that unfortunately misfires, if I’m ever sat next to you and accidently kick you, please don’t take it personal. There are hundreds and thousands out there like me that would benefit from additional research, some answers and a hopefully one day a possible cure for unexplained brain activity.
I would like to pay great tribute to John Lewis. Lewy where do I start, it’s been an absolute pleasure being your Vice Captain and PA. The respect you’ve shown and given me throughout the year has been exceptional. Always giving, supporting and filling me with gin, a tradition I’m hoping continues as a past captain. You’ve been a true gentleman a great Captain and very respected by all, being asked to be your Vice Captain was truly a great honour, thank you.
No Captain of a club can be successful on their own, it is dependant on the team around them, which brings me to my Vice Captain. A very respected member of the club, a friend and a great team player. I’m sure you’ll all agree and welcome on board my Vice Captain Mark Nessbert.
As the years have passed, I’ve made some lifelong friends and I’ve watched the progression of our club grow from strength to strength. The amount of work behind the scenes, time, effort and expense put into the club sure reflects where we are today. With a strong committee and teamwork, it’s a year I’m sure looking forward too.
And finally, thanks to you, the members for the support I’m certain you will provide me with going forward. We all want to see our club grow and prosper and be successful.
