Glenrothes Golf Club – Poor/Inclement Weather Policy
1. Should the course be unplayable for any reason prior to the start of a Competition a delay of no greater than 1 hour will be applied.
1.1. If the start delay goes beyond 1 hour the Competition may be postponed or cancelled depending on the availability to rearrange it for a future date.
1.2. If the course re-opens after a Competition has been postponed or cancelled, the club will run a sweep for players who wish to take part and play for their handicaps.
2. If winter greens are in play or the course length is reduced for any reason prior to the Competition starting, as long as the reduction in course length is no greater than 100 yards, then the Competition will go ahead. Note: If the Competition goes ahead there will be NO changes made to the course length.
3. If the course becomes un-playable for any reason during Competition play, the starter will sound the air horn with one continuous blast.
3.1. Players should mark their ball position and prepare to wait a maximum of 1 hour to determine if the course can be deemed playable again.
3.2. If the Competition cannot be restarted within 1 hour the 75% rule* will be applied.
4. If inclement weather such as Thunder & Lightning occurs during Competition play, the starter will sound repeated blasts on the air horn.
4.1. Players must immediately mark their ball position and leave the course for their own safety.
4.2. If the risk passes within 1 hour, the Competition will recommence.
4.3. If the Competition cannot be restarted within 1 hour the 75% rule* will be applied.
*75% Rule – If 75% or more of the Competition playing field scores are already entered then the Competition will stand. If there is less than 75% of the playing field scores entered, then the Competition will be postponed or cancelled.
