Mike Wallis Trophy
First, second, third and last!
Well we keep thinking it’s the last day of summer - maybe today it actually was. A field of close to 70 took to the tees today, to contest the seniors Mike Wallis Trophy. Mike was a former member and very able golfer, with swing that was much to be admired. He sadly passed in 2011.

Quite fitting that Ray Crotty was today’s winner, as he told us that Mike was a golfer he had always looked up to.

Congratulations to Ray coming in with 44 points, in the last flight out.

In second place, with a very credible 43 points, was our very own Nick “where’s the jam?” Diplock.

Talking of Nick’s, I did hear that our pro Nick Lloyd had filled a late gap in Nick Diplock and Chris Leggett’s flight. Commendable of you Mr Lloyd - we can only assume Mr Diplock was emulating your swing to fire him into second slot!

Bronze medal position was taken by, long time leader in Tom’s Bar, Mike Hanak.

Congratulations on 41 points, Mike, and commiserations you led until the death.

Finally - what is Simon Russell doing with Ray in the cover pic? Well they played together (that and the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and last subhead bit!)
