The northerly wind continued to blow and we were greeted with winter rather than spring conditions , as you can see from the picture below!
In the first match Barry Peak and Dave Jewell took on Gogs vice captain, Mark and his partner Owen. Dave produced some steady golf and the shots proved too much for the opposition, the Links running out 7&5 winners.
Andrew Durman and in partner Michael Bennet battled back from a 3 down deficit and a birdie at the last secured them a 1 Up victory.
In the third match Colin Bradnam and Cliff Marden were also involved in a close fought contest, eventually running out winners 3&1.
This put the Links into an unassailable 3-0 lead.
Due to an admin mix up the Gogs had to call in a late replacement – Dominic Bell driving across from St Neots to participate. In a re-jigged order Vice-Captain James and his partner Scott Barker took on Damien and his partner, Graham. The Gogs prevailed in another close game, eventually winning 2&1.
The final match score of 3-1 was the Links men’s first win of the season!
The matches were played in great spirit with some excellent golf on both sides.
