Mary Walsh and Keith Fountain arranged a number of fund-raising events throughout the year which were extremely well supported by club members and resulted in substantial donations being raised for their nominated charities.
Representatives from Thera Trust East Anglia; an organisation that provides staff to care and support people with severe learning disabilities to live a fulfilled life in their own homes or in supporting living within the community across Cambridgeshire and Norfolk and Hope After Suicide Loss, which provides bereavement care and healing support to family and friends of people who have taken their own lives across Norfolk and Suffolk; were invited to highlight the work they undertake and how the recipients of their services will benefit from the funds.
Members have been extremely generous in supporting the captains, despite the current financial challenges, allowing cheques for £10,028 to be handed to both charities along with words of appreciation and very best wishes for everything they continue to provide in our community from everyone at the links.
In showing the huge appreciation Gaham Jaffe, Abi Barlow and Terri Dumont described how the funds would be utilised to introduce new initiatives including creation of a new hub to support vulnerable people to compile their own CVs and obtain real worth time employment in the community. Dan Pennock and Graham Copsey, representing Hope, highlighted the fact that as their time is all provided voluntarily, ongoing donations, such as this, are vital to be able to continue the service and this money will support them to fund the charity to operate for a further three months.
