Men dominant at home in May friendly matches
Men's May Friendly Matches
The Men had two friendly matches in May. The was first against the 3 Club Farmers a society originally formed from members of The Links, Saffron Walden and Ely
On a sunny afternoon the matches were played in great spirit with the links parings (Barry Peak and Mark Canham, James Greenall and Ian Clark, Steve Harbey and Cliff Marsden and Andrew Durman and Keith Fountain all proving too strong for their respective opponents leading to a 4-0 overall match score.

At the end of May the team took on Bishops Stortford Golf Club in a fixture that has been ongoing for over 90 years.
Once again the men’s team produced some great golf, with Barry Peak and John Bowles, Ian Clark and Graham Hurrell, Ashley Bygraves and Dave Jewell and Dominic Clark and Mark Canham all proving triumphant in their respective matches leading to another 4-0 scoreline.

On the eve of summer the conditions were somewhat chilly with a northerly wind. The match was proceeded by a great Links breakfast and again played in great spirit. Henry was gracious in defeat and expressed his desire to expand the fixture to 10 or 12 a side.
