Men's Captain Completes Longest Day Challenge
Longest Day Challenge Report - Friday 21st June
We have great pleasure in sharing with you our story from last Friday.
We set out sun as the sun rose at 4.40am with a heavy dew on the ground and a chilly 9 degrees. We completed the first round in 2hrs 25 off the yellow tees and straight into the second round off the white, coming in just after 10am for a quick pit stop - by that time the temperature was well into the 20's. A Sausage sandwich each lead to a change of plan - another round off the white tees and we were back in the clubhouse by 1.15 for some lunch.

Back on the course at 2pm for a round on the red tees which were not as easy as we'd have hoped! 72 holes completed by 5pm but we still had lots of daylight ... We decided to plough on! Round 5 of the day was the toughest by far - I was struggling to swing and Harrison was struggling to hole puts! This time off the blue tees, scoring deteriorated somewhat - I was using my trolley as support whilst H just carried his clubs! 90 holes completed by 7.30pm we now had a 100 in sight.

Red Tees for the final 10 - adrenaline kicked in and the golf improved again. In an amazing finale, Harrison and I both birdied the 10th and 100th hole. Thank you for the supporters on the day - Marjie who was there on the tee at 4.45 to see us off and walk the first 15 holes, Sarah for her support in round 2, John for his support in Round 3 and Ian in Round 4, with Sarah back again to capture the final 10 holes
Many thanks to the multiple golfers on the day who let us play through and enable us to get to the magic 100 - I had hoped we'd get there but didn't want to promise! It's certainly a day that will long remain in our memories.
Our heartfelt thanks to all of you who have so generously donated to the cause. Your donations really will make a difference and are very much appreciated.

Many thanks once again for all your support – thus far we have raised over £3,000 plus gift aid.
