Links are through to the Jock Stewart Final
Jock Stewart Semi Final v March
On Saturday we hosted the Semi-final of the Jock Stewart competition against March GC.
This was their opportunity to win the JS again, with a gap of 50 years since their last victory in 1974.

For the Links it was our 4th match this year, having wins against Cambridge Meridian, Saffron Walden and the GOGS. to reach this stage.

It was probably the closest match I have ever been involved in, with the first 2 matches ending at one each.

Our team was, Barry Peak, ( Links Captain and Seniors Champion 2024 ) Michael Harvey, Liam Elmer, Scott Barker, Graham Hurrell and our Senior's Handicap Champion, 2024 Nic Yates.

Our last pairing of Graham Hurrell and Nic Yates, were playing "catch up" all day, and did really well to hold on to reach the 18th all square.

Both teams followed the players down the 19th and the pressure was obviously being felt by the 4 players involved in this thrilling decider.

The Links managed to take 1 less shot than March and it was a momentous achievement for our squad to win this match.

Full credit must go to March for playing so well away from their home club, I personally think that the result could have gone their way with home advantage.

We now await the other Semi final result between Barkway and Brampton Park to see who we will meet in the final.

The final will be on Saturday 10th August at the Links again, as always, and played over 36 holes.

Good luck to the players that will be representing the Links, and trying to regain the trophy, last won in 2022.
