SkyCaddie PGA Pro & Captain Challenge
Regional Finals
Elliot Harding and Alex Jones recently played together for the first time, in a team event organised by the PGA and sponsored by SkyCaddie. Held at the Rolls of Monmouth GC, the event was one of 10 regional finals in the UK-wide PGA Pro & Captain competition. There was a fair bit at stake with the winning team in each region going though to the grand final at PGA National Italy. To spice it up further, the prize pot for the 10 PGA Pros reaching the grand final was £22,000.

A practice round at the Rolls went well and highlighted the importance of landing approach shots on the right part of the green. As you would expect in an event run by the PGA, the course set up was immaculate and the greens were running true and pretty fast.

Both players were announced on to the first tee and a fierce competition began against 50 Pro-Captain teams from across Wales and SW England.

Elliot and Alex finished 24th and had they not experienced a total of 7 lip outs on putts, they could have featured well in to the top 10. Alex said "to play on behalf of our club alongside our fantastic PGA Professional, is a memory that will last forever. It was a massively enjoyable experience and, over the 2 days, Elliot showed me so many great tips about course management". Elliot added "the event certainly brought out the competitive side in both of us and we played some good golf. Beating so many club pairs from all over Wales was fun and is something we can be proud of".
