On Wednesday we hosted Royal Mid Surrey Juniors for the return leg, after a tied match at RMS back in April. Playing for the club were Izzy Yang, Lance Scott, Finlay Todd, Jack Collins, Freddie Haugaard, Charlie Linch. Ben O'Hara. They did themselves great credit on the day, but sadly their golf came up second place, losing 0-4 to the guests. We trust that with a summer of practice and the regular coaching from the Pros, we will get them back in 2025.
Next match is on Saturday 27th away vs Fulwell at 2pm. If you'd like to join please contact Paddy or George. Still a couple of places free.
Also please all juniors sign up to the New Burridge Knockout Trophy being played through the summer ASAP - via the WhatsApp group. Draw will be made this week.
SGS Captains Day
On Thursday we held the SGS Captains Day with The Stge Captain, Paul Manuel, looking pinker than Barbie having a menopausal flush. A field of 60 including seven invited guests from TRGC great and good plus John Maguire took to battle and the sun shined bright and hot on the righteous.
Prize giving took place outside at Tom’s and there were a fair number handed out.
The Captain gave out some special prizes including Best Dressed that went to both Ron Lay and Marcello who both pinked it up beautifully. (Slowhand - remember the special prizes idea for your gig next year!)
There was also a Worst Dressed prize that was won with effortless ease by Wayne Eagling.
The Pink Ball competition was won by the team of Graham Falconer, Gavin Grey and Lorne Magory and Graham won the special Guest prize with a wonderful total of 39 points. What you might call the anti pink ball competition was won by Luke Miller, who lost his team's pink ball when he de-lofted a wedge into the hedge behind the 3rd.
The Alliss Medal this year was for the lowest gross score on the par 3s - the winner this year was the GM with a score of 17 and seemed suitably honoured to receive it from Jackie.
Finally the Captain presented prizes of vouchers for Steve Burridge’s little shop of golf gear to the top five finishers with the overall winner being the suitably stunned Phil “I've got a job” Glenister.
1. Phil Glenister 39 pts
2. James Lawson 38 pts
3. JJT 38 pts
4. Jed Mercurio 38 pts
5. Peter Temple 37 pts
Thank you JP for your input on this!

Hickory Shaft Challenge
Unfortunately, the hickory shaft golf event had to be cancelled at the last minute due to transport issues! Maybe the van was as old as the clubs it was bringing.
However, those who arrived in the appropriate attire stole the show, none more so than Cathy and Page Singletary, who looked amazing.
Ivan Rosenshein's outfit matched his personality, colourful, but we still had fun by playing a 3 club and a putter challenge over 9 holes.
Nick Morgan took the honours with a creditable 20 points. The weather was great, the BBQ excellent, and the wine flowed. Thanks to everyone who attended, we had a blast regardless.
Many thanks to Gary Norman for his input on this one.
Saturday Medals & Past Captains Cup
The Ladies Medal was won by Kara Catt romping home on 64 from Yvonne Bailey and Tamsin Loke both carding 72. Division 2 saw Siobhan Gallagher winning on 66 from Kirsty McDonald on 68.
Grahame Falconer won the Mens Medal with a 64…
…from Harrison Chesterton in second on 65. (Nice to see a new face on the App News!) David Lymburn took the third podium place and Craig Jones best gross with 71 - an unfortunate Lowryesq double on the last.
The past Captains Cup was won by IPIPIPC, Tamsin Loke, narrowly beating Jeremy Williams on count back. Both on 71 after Tamsin’s course adjustment shot for the mixed event.
