It's Now the Ryder Cup!

Based on popular demand, and the fact that the cup has "Ryder" inscribed on it, the competition formerly known as the Solheim Cup is now the Ryder Cup!

Taking place on 31 August, only 4 weeks away, it will be a very similar format as the hugely successful Ryder Cup comp held at the club last year. Being a team event, there is loads of excitement and exhilaration with every point crucial to your team. Spaces are at a premium so if you want to be involved put your name into any slot on BRS as soon as possible.

Importantly, this is a full day event so please commit to join in all day as this will help create a great atmosphere.

A summary of the event:

* A team competition open to all members with a valid handicap
* When BRS is full, Team Captains will do a random draw to allocate players into 2 teams. You will then know whether you are Team USA or Team Europe.
* It will be planned so that you have time to acquire team colours (USA in red/white/navy and Europe in Yellow/Royal blue)
* Team Captains will then put their players into pairs, and put their pairs into a playing order, all done in secret and without the other captains knowing.
* On the morning of August 31st, all players will gather at 9am for coffee & bacon rolls and for the playing orders to be announced in true Ryder Cup style.
* 1st match will tee off at 10am and we hope for some ‘1st tee atmosphere’ with all players cheering their team.
* Format will be 4BBB matchplay with each pair trying to win a point for their team. Play will be from yellow and red tees.
* Refreshments will be available on the 11th tee.
* Players who have finished or not started their match can go out on to the course to cheer on their team and non-playing members are also welcome.
* As soon as the last match has concluded, the winning team with the most points will be presented with the trophy.
* Entry fee £12 per person, to include coffee, bacon roll, raffle, 11th tee refreshments and a fun-packed day!
* Food will be available for purchase during the day from our caterer Helen.
