That Was the Week that Was
Professional’s Day - highlight of the week
Friday Roll Up

Having cantered home with 42 points last week and suffered a three shot handicap cut, the clever money wasn’t on Charlie Browning winning this week.

Big congratulations Charlie as he did exactly that, with another 42 pointer and another prize of a 3 shot cut!

Max Dawson was close behind with 41, two points clear of Gary Lowry & Paul Marples.

There is still plenty of time left to get four good scores in to be the overall winner and wrestle the trophy away from Tim Hutchence.

Professional’s Day

Saturday had been forecast to be the storm amongst the sun but clearly Stevie B has more influence with the Big Man, than The Captain has, as the day was pretty much perfect golfing condition wise.

Just shy of 120 players took to the course with Rich Barlow & Alastair Evans-Gordon, John Peters & Simon Poland first off at 7.50 am. Steve was on hand at the halfway point, assisted ably by his girls Olivia and Annie and not so ably by Martin Lovell suffering from a repetitive strain injury opening beer bottles.

Jumbo sausage being enjoyed here by Skip, GM and Gary Burns.

A long lazy afternoon at Toms bar was spent watching the pairings come in, chatting about potential winning scores, and trying to find out who owned this ball Jonte Abare found out on the course! The lazy afternoon turned into a very jolly late evening with things not winding up until post 9pm

At around 5.30 pm it came to the prizes and congratulations to all those winning nearest the pins

A special congratulations to Su Slattery who, with an ace on the 8th, clearly had the nearest of them all! Pictured here being congratulated by The Capatain at the halfway point. Now the 8th being the “Beat The Pro” hole one would have thought a hole-in-one would have done just that - but, alas, no. You had to be in it to win it!

Su very generously made a donation to the Captain’s Charity.

On to the main prizes and in fourth place were Roman Franks (left) and Ian Stidworthy (right)

Third were Hugh Bett and Marti Trevethick with 45 points, 18 going out and 27 on the return! Mark Jevons and Charlie Browning were second, unfortunately couldn’t be there to pick up their prize but sent apologies (Charlie’s probs getting a bit camera shy by now anyway!)

Winners were Jeff Harding (left) and Bruce Collingwood (right) - both being Stage Members in addition to TRGC Members they obviously know how to put in a performance. Take a bow gents.

Sunday Roll Up

32 joined the Sunday roll up today. There were four twos going to Cameron Hay, Chas Bain, Anthony Pireddu and Charlie Dyos Hunter. In 3rd place with 38 points (on countback from four others and with 22 on the back 9) was Cameron Hay. Anthony Pireddu took 2nd spot with 39 points.

This weeks winner and congratulations to Glori Haskey coming in two points clear with 41

…and finally

pictured here a divot mix bucket hanging from a members trolley - something we are still looking forward to seeing more of. Remember take a bucket of divot mix from the dispenser near the tee of the hole selected for that day, then please fill in the divots you come across on that hole - even if you have not taken one yourself.

This will help to keep the course in the fine condition you find it

That’s All Folks…
