That Was the Week that Was
Midweek Stableford and Roll-up Results
A field of 85 took to the course on Wednesday, for the August Midweek Stableford, with the weather fine and course in great shape. Scoring was pretty keen with fourteen players coming in with 36+. For those who like stats, the 8th played the easiest, as one would expect, with an average score of 0.84 over par. Second easiest was a surprise entry from the 10th, at an average of 0.93 over.

Okay enough of that, Statto, onto the results. Taking first place with 41 points was Tim Hutchence - quite a regular face on the App News - congrats Tim.

One point behind came Chas Bain with 40, narrowly ahead of Charlie Browning, another recent regular, on countback.

Best gross was won by Finn Charlesworth with a fine 75.

There were more twos than the queue for Noah’s Ark, so just a special mention for Andy Williams and Chas Bain, both with a brace.

Friday Roll-up

32 players took part this week, giving a total of 85 different players so far this year - shows the popularity of the event. If you haven’t played in it before and are tempted, just pitch up to the front bar next week 10.30ish - Mark Jevons at the helm.

The winner this week was debutant Stephen White with 41 points and an immediate two shot roll-up handicap cut (there’s an incentive for newbies)

Second was David Meldrum with 40 points, also cut two shots, and third was Mark Carpenter with 38 and a one point cut.

What no Charlie Browning?

Sunday Roll-up

Maurizio D’Arrigo pictured here with his winnings having come in with 42 points, one clear of Keith Berry in runners up slot. A slightly smaller field than usual with many of our regulars being off on the away trip.

…and finally

The sign up sheet for the End of Season Fun Day on Saturday 28th September is in the front bar and starting to fill up. Another great idea from Grahame Falconer, our Member for Golfing Activities. Coffee and bacon rolls, 8.45 shotgun start to a very interesting format comp, lunch in the marquee with prizes, raffle, drinks, laughter, more drinks…. What’s not to love?
