The weather was not favourable and the course was closed early morning of the Competition due to more torrential rainfall over night. Fortunately, with slightly improving weather and determined efforts of the greenkeeping staff and ladies playing, the event went ahead from 12.10.
Our Captain fulfilled starting duties and the Competition ran smoothly and on time.
A bar at the 9th tee provided added “energy” to those playing and all ladies were able to complete the 18 holes of the Competition.
After golf, the players were treated to a superb meal with a terrific atmosphere created within the Tom Morris Room.
Our Lady Guests were most complimentary of our course and clubhouse and everyone was very well looked after by GGC staff.
It will now be an annual event within the Club calendar.
As far as the Competition was concerned, considering the weather the scoring was very high with the first three pairings all scoring 37 Stableford points. A last nine and then last six holes count back were required to determine the winners.
The results for the Competition are as follows:-
Winners Sandra Frew and Denise Macnaughton (pictured)
Second Anne Mactaggart and Lindsey Kidd
Third Jill Foggo and Jacqueline Sillars

The final prize was for the Captain’s Charity where the generosity of the Ladies raised £420. The nearest the pin in 2 at the 13th hole was won by Karen Neilson.
Well done to all the prize winners.
Finally, a huge thank you is expressed to all GGC staff involved in ensuring another most enjoyable event at Killermont for our Members and their Guests. Well done.
