Gailes is now becoming ever more popular with visitors thanks to the fabulous in-house hospitality and terrific course management from Brian and his team. Today again the course was immaculate.
The Hooter sounded at 9am. With one eye in the direction of Arran we donned our waterproofs as a squally shower blew through. This was the first and thankfully last, most of the round was played in sunshine and indeed in ‘shirt sleeve order’.
We all enjoyed the fun element to a Texas Scramble which accommodates the eclectic mix of handicaps in a team. The scoring was excellent considering a tough and unusual cross-wind.
One shot covered TEN groups in the Return (seven groups finishing on netting 57).
Three groups emerged from the pack with scores of nett 56.
The computer on this occasion say ‘Yes’ - justifying the stroke allowance calculation.
