Friday - Robin Cup
After the deluge, with thunder and lightening yesterday, and the promise of more today, there was a flurry of overnight and early morning activity on the CV1 app as some anticipated less than convivial playing conditions for day one of the Autumn meeting.
That said, a strong field of 118 took to the course to contest the Robin Cup - our only bogey competition. It’s a bit like match play against the course - downside is the course has a par on every hole, upside, if you nett birdie there’s nowt it can do but concede!
Many congratulations to this years winner, Geoff McCaw, who finished 5 up playing off 20
Second place went to Peter Walsh 4 up
Third went to Max Dawson, again 4 up
Saturday - Cooper Salver and Gold Medal
Saturday saw a break in the pretty average weather we have had for this year’s Autumn Meeting and some good scores as 27 players came in par or better.
The Cooper Salver was won by David Cafferty with a nett 63, off 22. Congratulations to David - well played.
Runner up slot went to Craig Thomson on 64.
Many congratulations to Gold Medal winner, Luis Fernandez, who came in with a very impressive gross 66. His nett 64 gave him third in the Salver.
Sunday - Selby Cup
Another huge challenge for Les and his team with, yet again, a downpour overnight hampering the first light cut and preps. Big hand to the whole of the team!
The predicted rain for the day seemed to hold off though and play went on uninterrupted
Congratulations to a recent very familiar face in the App News Honours, as Max Dawson took the Selby Cup with a 67 playing off 7.
Anthony Byrne was second also on 67, narrowly losing out.
Graham Valentine came in third.
Today was also the first day of the Ladies Autumn Meeting - second day and results tomorrow.
