Friday Roll-up
First thing out after the course opened, post autumn maintenance, was the Friday Roll-up.
Harrison Chesterton took the win with David Hardman second. Next week’s roll up will be run earlier than usual from 10.30-11.20 due to a society day out at 11.30.
Pink Stableford
This year’s Pink Stableford, in aid of Breast Cancer Awareness, was won by Kirsty MacDonald with a very impressive, 3 points clear, 43 points. No great surprise as if you had read the Top Gun report, or seen Kirsty in the event, she is in fine form.
Many congratulations Kirsty
Runner up was Jeremy James-Taylor with 40 points and James Culverwell was third on 38
There were nearest the pins for Keith Berry, Maurizio D’Arrigo, Craig Jones, Phil Glynn, Patrick Overmeer and James Culverwell. Phil got his NTP on 12 and having holed his putt, (like we needed to say!) scooped the £550 jackpot, with £140 going to the charity.
The Captain’s Prize for the pinkest outfit went to Enid Hughes, narrowly pipping, or out-pinking, IPC, John Cahill.
Worth mentioning, John had even gone to the lengths of procuring a pink watch strap (actually probs it wasn’t!)
Many thanks to all who took part on the day in raising a total of £1,100 for Breast Cancer UK!
Stage Show - Saturday night
A packed house, for the eagerly awaited 2024 Stage Show, gathered in both bars for a pre-entertainment tea of bangers, mash and beans. All washed down with more beer & wine than tea!
At 8pm, the assembled bundled into the cube room, the lights dimmed, and the murmur quietened to the notes from a didgeridoo. The scene had been set for whom was, most probably, the main satirical (or one may say sartorial) target for what was about to unfold.
The show itself was spectacular, very very funny, and spot on with its send up of The Club and some of its main characters.

The Admin Ladies at a GM briefing
The “Hello Gibby” routine delivered superbly by Stage Captain, Paul Manuel, and his chorus line.
It’s is somewhat beyond the Newsroom and ClubV1’s ability to do the show true justice but we hope to bring you some more video content next week. Suffice to say The Stage are an integral part of The Richmond Golf Club and something that makes your club unique and very special. We thank you all very much!
Club v Stage - Sunday morning
Ouch! (for quite a few we could name) Sunday morning 8am coffee, in the front bar, was not really doing it for that hangover. So much so that both Captains, Ian and Paul, teeing off the first, got Les to go to the other side of the course to let the 9am bang off! That said the shotgun did go off and eighteen flights took to battle.
Around high noon, appropriately, the first of the games started to come in and the result was looking close. In the final reckoning it couldn’t actually have been closer, unless the match had been halved.
The Club ran out victors by 9 1/2 to 8 1/2 - fittingly as close as we can get but still edging victory x
That’s All Folks…
