Golf Update
Summary
A full field of ladies competed for the Lady Captain’s Charity Rose Bowl on Tuesday 15th October in windy but dry conditions. Competition was fierce and Angela Vaughan emerged victorious with 37 points, 2 points ahead of Ginny Richardson and 3 ladies, Sarah Fryer, Caroline Gard and Tricia Hamilton all on 34 points.
A fine Autumn Day saw 36 men take to the first tee, there were only 6 in the 29 club and 5 managed a ‘two’. The winner of the 0-17 division was Josh with 38 points and Simon Jackson close in second place with 37 points. Division 18 and above was secured by Mike Donnelly beating Chris Taylor on countback with 36 points.
25 ladies travelled to Ufford Park on Thursday 17th October for the Lady Captain’s Away Day. After meeting for bacon rolls and coffee the ladies, each armed with Emergency Snack packs, played a singles Stableford competition in glorious warm sunshine. Competition was split into two divisions with Vice Captain Sarah Fryer and Angela Vaughan each taking first place ahead of Caroline Gard and Louise Wood with Claire Vaughan and Karen Wright in third places.
Friday 18th October was our Ferrets Guest Day. The weather was exceptional considering the time of year, refreshments were enjoyed pre golf by the 36 players that took to the course. A shotgun start ensued with nearest the pins and prizes for first, second and third pairings.
Yesterday, Frinton ladies met for coffee as their Lady Captain and Lady Vice Captain drew the teams to compete in the inaugural Lady Captain v Lady Vice trophy. Played in glorious sunshine each of the Greensomes matches was close fought but the last team in confirmed victory for a jubilant Team Vice! Will she win again as Lady Captain next year?
On Saturday Night we had a Michael Jackson tribute night. Our members enjoyed a brilliant meal along with singing and dancing to the classic hits. If you wish to join in on one of our social evenings why not come and attend our 'Pie Comedy Night' on Friday 8th November.
The monthly afternoon tea was a big hit this month with the theme of ABBA. Our wonderful staff were spot on with the decorations and even took part in the dressing up! Our next monthly afternoon tea is ‘Le Tea Francaise’ on Wednesday 20th November.
