The team on the course have been hard at work this week, more so than usual!
Not only are they still having to cut all areas of the course, pick up leaves and prepare the course for play each day, but they have started work on the 7th hole re-shape this week.
As those that have played or follow our social media account will know, work has moved on at a fast pace. The two new bunkers have been shaped and the approach to the green has been widened, meaning well struck shots aimed up the left side of the green will not kick right upon landing.
The bunker on the left has been added to stop balls rolling through in front of the 8th tee box, it also tidies up what was a high wear area (walkway) The bunker on the right has been added to improve the hole, not only aesthetically but because the bank in front of the green would always look scruffy and be patchy growth wise which made chipping onto the green really tricky.
The pathway from the 7th tee to the 8th tee will be re-routed so that golfers, trolley's and buggies are kept well away from the green and approach.
Irrigation will be added to the approach, which will also provide water coverage on the mounding behind the new left hand side bunker, meaning this area will start to grow and not be scruffy.
My thanks as usual to our five hard working green keepers!
JACK HAWKSBY
Thanks once again to all those that supported the bumper raffle, we raised a little over £1000 for Jack during that week which goes a long way out in South Africa.
Jacks had a superb six weeks on tour, he's made five cuts out of five, and earnt himself some decent prize money and the all important order of merit points.
Due to him being in the top 10 following 36 holes last week, it qualified him for the Blue Label Challenge event this week at Sun City. He's taken full advantage of this and currently sit's in a tie for 2nd, 3 points off the lead, with 12 holes to play on the final day. Fingers crossed for a big finish!
TEE BOOKINGS
As we move into the darker months, please please please cancel your tee times if you're not going to be playing. There are far too many no shows on a Friday, Saturday and Sunday which prevents other members from playing, it's really not fair.
I really don't want to get to the stage where we restrict members from booking if they repeatedly fail to turn up, but we will if necessary.
The same applies to swindles that have three times booked but turn up with 20 players, this is also selfish and affects everyone behind you, the tee will be monitored next weekend and if groups are over subscribed you'll have to decide who doesn't play.
Have a good week
Rob
