From tomorrow, we will revert to our winter tees which marks the beginning of our winter golf season. I’m now able to share with you our exciting Winter Golf Fixture list and events. We hope you like what we’ve put together and that the weather remains favourable to allow for some winter fun.
In short, we will have Winter Sweeps on most Wednesdays & Saturdays, and the popular winter league will be played on Sundays. We also have 2 special winter events per month (1 Wednesday & 1 Saturday) to offer some variety, including 2 club & putter events, fourball better balls, scrambles and double greensomes! There is also the popular Christmas Cross Country and the Charles Middleton Trophy & Hogmanay Quaich to kickstart 2025. Its all shaping up to be a busy winter, we just need the weather to be kind.
The Winter League will be based on your best 6 scores throughout the winter period, with the leading 8 players heading to the Grand Final in March at Kilmarnock Barassie. Please also note, that if we receive enough support then we may increase the qualifiers to 12. A decision on this will be taken at the mid-way point in the league.
After discussion, the committee have agreed to use full handicaps based on the yellow tees for the winter events. There will be no handicap reductions throughout the winter period either. All events and leagues will be played as a single division.
On the weeks that the 11th hole is closed for the drainage works, we will use the 1st hole on the Dinvin Course as the 11th hole.
The full schedule has now been uploaded to the Club V1 Diary and I have also loaded PDF documents in the folder section showing a month-by-month view of fixtures. There is also a separate PDF of the special events. These documents can be found by clicking on the 'Club Document' section with the V1 App and then opening the 'Competition & Fixture' folder.
Finally, as I mentioned at our annual prizegiving on Friday night, if anyone has any suggestions about 2025 competitions, please send them in.
Thanks,
Chris
