As we start to get into the end of our traditional golfing calendar, what a spectacular Annual Club Dinner we had to close the season. We have had some excellent speakers over the years but probably none quite so prestigious as the Ryder Cup legend, Bernard Gallacher.
Hats off to the GM in getting Bernard - and the Cup!!!
Guests rapidly gathered in the front bar from 7pm onwards on Friday evening, for this much anticipated event, before moving through to a splendidly presented marquee for the dinner.
After Grace, dinner was served and once again the kitchen did us proud, both in terms of the quality of the food and in the quality of service.
The toast to The Club was given by newly announced Vice-Vice, Bill Boucher, pictured her far right of his table. before The Captain introduced Bernard. A very relaxed, understated and witty speech followed. reminding us all of Ryder Cup history and many of its legends.
Drinks and conversation flowed late into the evening and a compilation of a few photographs here hopefully reflect the fun had by all.
November Stableford
Now given the night before is it coincidental that the podium finishers were not on parade Friday night?
Congratulations to Saturday’s winner, Patrick Overmeer, with a fine 42 points and two points clear of Elliot Lake, in runners up slot.
Craig Jones was third with 39 points and also carded the best gross with a one under 69 - three birdies and an eagle in that round!
Sunday Roll-up
This week’s Sunday roll-up saw 24 competitors take to the course, with the congratulations going to Mark Sutton with 40 points and a two shot cut for his troubles.
Keith Berry and John Inglis were also both to feel the touch of cold steel - one shot cuts for their 39 point and 38 point, silver and bronze medal slots.
There were 2s for Kara Catt and Lordy.
And Finally…
Night golf this Thursday. Still a few slots available, so eat loads of carrots, email the AGM or GM, and come along for much fun and a pleasant supper afterwards.
That’s All Folks…
