The match got under way with the Captain getting a birdie at the 1st hole to take the lead. Some exceptional golf was played throughout the match, this being evident with a total of five birdies being achieved from the first three holes. it wasn't until the 15th hole that light started to appear between the teams when Chris sunk his putt to give his team a one hole lead. This was followed with the 16th being halved, leaving Ted & Ken one down with two to play. The 17th produced four excellent tee shots landing on the green. With two further birdies from the Captain and Simon ensured the hole was halved. With smiles like the cat that got the cream from Chris and Simon they knew they couldn't be beaten.
So, it was up the 18th knowing that nothing short of a Birdie would suffice. A valiant attempt by Ken with his putt shaving the hole, but alas, Simon sunk his putt for his second birdie in succession to ensure victory.
Congratulations to the challengers Chris & Simon, a victory well deserved. Remember "Golf is the winner."
The Club Captain and Vice-Captain graciously accepted defeat and congratulated their opponents on a well-played match.
