Christmas Fayre
Part One of the Christmas Fayre was played on Wednesday, with the early starters seeing the best of conditions. A cold but bright and occasionally sunny morning’ got progressively cloudier with a light drizzle floating in the air come 11.30.
No phemoninal scoring, yet with the fifth playing like a par three, but still scoring as a par four SI 4, there were give away stableford points on offer. Stats showed it played easier than 14 with 41 pars, 34 birdies and 3 eagles from the 93 competitors. Hole 10 played the hardest with only 5 players making par.
Congratulations to Barny Taylor running out victorious with 42 points. Runners up slot went to Tim Lacey, also on 42 being pipped on countback, with David Lymburn in third place on 41.
Part Two of the Christmas Fayre on Saturday had always been a logistical nightmare for the GM with continuous late changes but the impending Storm Darragh caused a flurry of late withdrawals and, in the end, caused the postponement of the event, a couple of hours in Saturday morning. Haven’t heard that too many were disappointed with that call. Part two has been rescheduled for Feb 1 and the sign up sheet is in the front bar.
Remember - you may only sign yourself in. Multiple entries by the same hand will be deleted!
Staff Christmas Party
Friday night was the Staff Christmas Party but, unfortunately, the News Room had been previously asked to sign an NDA. Having run it in by our lawyers, however, it appears that it only applied to the written word, with no mention of images, so enjoy…
Christmas Lunch
The second Christmas lunch was, again, a great success, despite Darragh’s efforts to relocate the marquee, somewhere down the ninth fairway.
Fine food, much fun and another raffle - four prizes of choccies, Christmas goodies and more
The first prize hamper going to that Lord of The Course, Simon Kimble.
And finally…
At the time of going to press we are unsure as to whether there was a Sunday Roll-up or not. Whilst it was a bit hectic first thing, with the course closed for a while for a much needed clear up, we did spot that stalwart of the competition, Pascal Huser, leaving the club in the larger of his one seaters - that lovely white Bubble-car - around lunchtime. That may suggest it was played and will update with the result if that were the case.
That’s All Folks!
