The brown foot prints and tyre marks that have recently appeared on the course are due the explicit conditions that cause frost burn. This and the more general issue of root shear clearly shows why we have to go onto temporary greens when there is a long hard frost, especially during the thawing process.
The first and fourth greens are now back in play now that the greens drainage work has settled down and the drainage work in front of the fourth has been completed. This will be done on trial basis as we need to monitor and learn how the surfaces respond. The drainage itself will not be fully effective until the replaced turf has knitted together and we can Verti-Quake across the drainage ditches.
The bunkers are also back in play so please ensure that you carefully rake them when you have played out of them. If we have further heavy rainfall that affects the bunkers, we will GUR the individual bunkers severely affected and issue a rake and place notification on the club V1 App.
We have almost completed the removal of the 52 fallen trees and will continue with various drainage projects over the closed season, but our main priorities will be as follows:
• 5th fairway sump and drainage.
• 16th green and fairway pipe and gravel
• 18th green pipe and grave with bunker excavation, drainage and lining in March.
Best Regards
