Weekend results
Paper report;
We start the week’s report with the previous weeks KEB Pro Shop Open. Countbacks were required to split James Craig, Nick Kelly and Nathan Bate, who all posted 37 points with Nick taking 3rd thanks to his back 9 of just 1 over par Gross. Nathan Bate had a cracking round, which included 5 birdies, with birdies on the back 9 on the 10th, 16th and 17th holes to take 2nd spot. The winner was Terry Kelly, who also had a cracking round. Terry popped 3 birdies of his own in, on the 6th, 8th and 9th holes and closed out with a level par back 9 to win with 41 points. Nearest the pins went to Paul Hinstridge and Mike Harrison.
Onto this past weekend and we start with Saturdays KEB Pro Shop Open. Nick Kelly was slightly unluckier than the previous weekend, missing out on the minor placings on a countback to Phil Holdrcroft, with both scoring 36 points. Stuart Dewhirst posted 4 birdies in his runners up spot score of 39 points, but a last hole bogey cost him top spot to Emmet McQuillan. Emmet’s birdie on the 10th set up his 39 points, holding it together on a blob free round, with 4pars and 4 bogies on the back 9 sealing the win. Nearest the pins were won by Nick Kelly and Gary Shilling.
Onto Sunday for the KEB Monthly Medal where the top 4 were all split on the back 9 with 18 hole scores of Nett 68. Gary Lee’s par couldn’t repair the damage done on the prior 2 holes, where 4 shots were dropped in his 4th place finish. Paul Penrose had a nice round, with a birdie on the 9th, but bogies on 17 and 18 pushed him down into 3rd. Dale Farquhar finished 2nd in a finish that could have yielded a lot more with a 7 on the 17th causing the damage to his card, but the newcomer had already played a steady round to take 2nd. This months’ winner was Dave Lowe, who birdied the 13th in his 68, following up with 4 pars and a bogey. Dave’s 74 Gross was also the best on the day, easing out Paul Penrose on a countback with Mike Harrison and Nick Kelly taking 3rd and 4th a shot back. Nearest the pins went to Phil Holdcroft and Andy Moore.
This weekend we have the Pro Shop Open on Saturday, followed by the KEB 3 Man Texas on Sunday. Happy Golfing!
