Additional lateral drains have been installed by our in-house team in front of the 5th tee and on the 6th fairway. In addition, targeted “gully pot” drains have been installed in areas known to regularly flood and hold water. These include the area left of the path on the first, the grass bunker on the left of the 6th fairway and the dip in front of the 10th green.
The first phase of work on the 16th pond has been completed with the pond and surrounding area being re-shaped. Further work will be undertaken to landscape the area, install fairway drainage and increase the teeing areas on the 17th.
Significant tree work including the removal of leylandii across the course will provide additional light in many areas which will enhance the playing surfaces and improve the ability for ground (no longer shaded) to dry more quickly.
Flipping the course has worked well this winter and enabled the course to be more playable for more golfers. The course will revert to a 1st hole start from Saturday 8th March.
Here’s to a dry and mild Spring and an enjoyable golfing season for all.
