Under England Golf’s “adverse/extreme weather” rules, the local rule of placing on the same spot, in the rough, will END at close of play on Monday 31-3-25. From the 1-4-25 any ball, not on closely mown areas, will have to be played as it lies.
Preferred lies, on closely mown areas, remains in place as detailed below, until further notice.
General Area relief:
PREFERRED LIES: for closely mown areas (basically the fairways) preferred lies will continue to apply, where the position of a ball can be marked, lifted, cleaned and placed within 6” (but not nearer the hole), ONCE for any given shot.
Please be aware that this rule DOES NOT apply to the following areas:
1. The teeing area
2. Penalty areas
3. Bunkers &
4. The putting green, as these have their own rules as indicated in the Rules of Golf.
ALL TEES WILL BE AVAILABLE FOR ACCEPTABLE HANDICAP CARDS FROM 1-4-25, as long as the minimum temporary green requirement is met.
The minimum temporary green requirement, for cards to be acceptable for handicap, is no more than two temporary greens on an 18-hole round and one on a 9-hole round. There is NO restriction on the number of bunkers in or out of play.
Thank you for your co-operation.
