We realise that some meetings can be very boring, however the Ryburn AGM is an event where we see the club Captain finish their final duties, and a new club Captain inaugurated, along with other officials. Thank you to Vinnie Lee our now immediate past Captain, and to Stuart our current Captain, who was very entertaining to say the least. Thank you to our retiring President John Coupe and to our new president Ray Attiwell. Thank you to Robert Eastwood for putting the club accounts together and explaining them articulately to the meeting.
Congratulations also to David Crowther who the (then) Captain Vinnie Lee announced at the meeting was to be given the Special Recognition award. This is an award that was introduced last year for outstanding contribution to the golf club. David has worked tirelessly for the club for many years now, quietly behind the scenes, this has quite rightly been recognised, congratulations David.
As explained at the AGM the club has an opening for H&S coordinator, as yet no one has come forward. The SMT is made up of volunteers that already have areas of responsibility and therefore it is impossible for them to also coordinate this, it is crucial that this role is filled. This role only requires a few hours a month, and attendance to SMT meetings, a lot of the work has been done to put policies and procedures in place, it just needs someone to oversee. If you are interested and feel
you could help out please don’t hesitate to contact me.
One of the other things that was talked about at the AGM was membership, our numbers are still too low. Membership is our main source of income, if we don’t have enough members then the club will struggle to operate. We are looking for someone who could join the membership sub committee, with the specific remit of recruitment and retention. This might interest someone who has experience in marketing, social media etc. England Golf have offered to support the club with this, we just need someone to work with them. Again if this interests you please don’t hesitate to contact me.
For those who are unsure of our management system, we operate under a Senior Management Team and a sub committee structure. I will be making a display showing this on the main club notice board (in the entrance), with the names of the people in the various positions, so you know who to contact should you need.
Lastly there were a number of excellent reports/speeches given at the AGM, i will be publishing them shortly via newsfeed for members, they are a worthwhile read. The minutes of the meeting will be published next year 6 weeks prior to the AGM as per the club rules.
