Introduction to the new Club Chairman
Dear Members of Wyke Green,

It is with great gratitude and excitement that I address you as your newly elected Chairman. Thank you for placing your trust in me to lead our club into its next chapter. This role is more than just a position—it’s a commitment to honour our traditions while guiding us towards a future that reflects the best of who we are and what we can become.

I would like to begin by paying tribute to our outgoing Chairman, Pat Marshall. He took charge during a particularly challenging time, and I’m sure you’ll agree that he has done a remarkable job. His leadership through a difficult period, along with the outstanding work he did on the clubhouse refurbishment, is evident to all. We owe him our deepest thanks for his dedication and vision.

Wyke Green is more than just a golf course—it’s a community where our passion for the game is matched only by the bonds we build off the fairway. As a board, our vision is to elevate that experience even further. With recent improvements to the course and the clubhouse, we’re already heading in the right direction. Yet, we’re aware that there’s much more to be done to ensure our facilities inspire pride, and that every member feels heard, valued, and included.

To achieve this, we’ll focus on three key priorities:
1. Enhancing our Course: All refurbished bunkers will be back in play by May 1st. The exceptional work Jimmy and his team have done over the winter, remodelling most of our bunkers, is a testament to their dedication. The improvements will not only enhance playability but also elevate the aesthetic of our course.

2. Fostering Inclusivity: We’ll be creating more events, actively encouraging greater member input, and finding new ways for everyone to have a voice in shaping the future of Wyke Green. To achieve this, we’ll be sending out additional surveys to ensure we capture your regular feedback.

3. Investing in Meaningful Upgrades: Whether it’s enhancing our catering options or upgrading practice facilities, we will focus on changes that matter most to you. We’re committed to delivering tangible improvements and will keep you updated on our progress.

This journey isn’t mine alone—it’s ours. Together, we will craft a plan that is bold yet practical, ambitious yet true to our roots. I’ll be reaching out soon to hear your ideas, concerns, and vision for Wyke Green, and I look forward to working alongside all of you to make our club even stronger.

Here’s to great golf, great company, and a club we can all be proud to call home.

Warm regards,
Jim Druce
