Seniors on the Road Again
Creditable Draw at Point
WCGC Seniors continued their busy early season schedule with a trip to The Point at Polzeath on a sun-blessed Thursday 10th April. Hot off the back of a difficult away fixture at Perranporth, the team were fired up for the next challenge.
A strong start from Seniors Captain Dennis Fryer and putting guru partner Larry Whittaker secured an early point with a well battled 2&1 result. This success was closely followed by the pairings of Tom Gair/David Inch and Mark Jones/Tony Dickinson, returning respectable 3&2 wins. However, despite the benign conditions, the final four pairings found it tough going, and only one pair - Malcolm Cadman/Nick Watters - managed a positive result, with a close 1UP win.
In the end, the team came away with a respectable 4-4 result against strong opposition and despite a clear difference in green speed with home conditions.
Well done to Kelvin Searle for taking the nearest the pin prize on a tricky par 3!
Next up, another challenging away fixture at Trevose on Monday 14 April.
