Heslop Cup Winner

The first trophy of the year for the men was decided last Saturday with Charles Cuthbert winning the Heslop Cup with an excellent net 66. He narrowly beat Barry Kerr (67), Lewis White (68) and Phil Beynon & Brian Sansom (both 69).
The Heslop Cup is contested as part of the April Medal, with the entrants being anyone who has won their division in any of the previous 12 monthly medals (April 2024 – March 2025). Therefore, the field is potentially 36 players with 3 divisions each month.
Charles’ victory was a lesson in perseverance and never giving up on a round, as he shot a 9 on the first hole and was still four over his handicap at the turn. However, a back 9 which was 8 shots better than his handicap, meant that he ended up well below handicap and was crowned winner of the prestigious trophy.
There is a corresponding trophy for the division winners in the monthly Stableford competitions, called the Coronation Cup, and this is being contested on Saturday 19 April as part of the monthly Stableford that day.
