William Simpkin represented Longcliffe at Hawkstone Park for 54 holes in the Midland U16 Boys Open Amateur Stroke Play Championship.
The top 90 were balloted across the whole of England. William teed off first as one of the highest handicappers scoring two eagles, finishing ahead of many plus and scratch players in over 40mph winds, but agonisingly missing the 50% cut by a single shot.
It was a valuable experience at the highest level of competition, and a strong stepping stone for future events.
