BGC Mens TSU Team News Number 1
For Information
Welcome to the first BGC team news for season 2025.
Before I report on the two fixtures we have played away at Castle Eden and at home to Dinsdale.
Can I start with a massive thank you to Peter Caswell for his continued support of the team, this year supplying both a t-shirt and overtop for those cold evenings, they are fantastic and are appreciated by both myself and Neil and by all the team members they look magnificent and a very touching tribute to big Nige Fick on the sleeve he would be proud of everyone of you guys for this, also not forgetting Peter has also supplied ever team members with a BGC golf towel.

Our first game of the season was a tough away fixture at newly relegated Castle Eden the lads put up a great performance losing 17points to 7.
The scratch section losing all the games but remember that these lads are playing on most occasions against + handicappers I am well informed that we were unlucky in a few of the games especially young Taylor Briggs who lost on the last hole to a birdie from his opponent to lose 1 down. The scratch players were Josh Thompson,Andy Hood,Graeme Nimmo,Phil Chadwick and Greame Speight
In the handicap section we gained 7 points with wins for Nic Winstanley,Daniel Spence, and Will Bellerby and a good half by Steve Smart, the loser’s were Marc Symington and Darren Hurst.
I would like to thank all the supporters who turned up to support the team,I cannot name them as unfortunately I was away golfing in Florida play the Celebration Golf Club Ha Ha Ha.

Our first home fixture of the season we played host to Dinsdale GC with a good 17 points to 7 win.
The scratch section had wins for Josh Thompson 3+1,Paul McGrath 3+2,Graeme Nimmo 3+1 and a half for Andy Hood we had 2 losing players Taylor Briggs again 1 down and Greame Speight.
In the handicap section we had 4 wins and two half matches, our winning players were Marc Symington 4+3,Daniel Spence 6+5,Will Bellerby 1up and a magnificent win for Nic Winstanley 9+7, our half matches were for Darren Hurst who unluckily lost his ball on the 18th and a brilliant come back from Steve Smart to come back from 3 down to gain a half on the last hole well done to all of you a great performance by everyone.

Now a big thank you to all the supporters who turned up to cheer on the team.Captain Glen Brocklesby and Vice-Captain Albert Spence(BEM),Stew Openshaw and Ash McGrath for patrolling around the sixth green area and also spotting the balls coming over the 10th tee,Liam Butler, Ben Hanson, Terry Conlon, Tom Lee, Mike Lee,Jack Hurst and not forgetting our resident OAP,S Robert Scotney Smith and his co-pilot Howard Gill
And not forgetting a special thank you to Beth Collict and our excellent bar and catering staff special mention to our step in Chef who looked after us with some excellent food and drink which was also well appreciated by all our opponents as well some great comments.
And last but not least a big thank you to John Dales and his staff for the excellent way the course was presented with some great comments not by just our opponents but by also Durham & Northumberland alliance.
If I have forgotten anyone it wasn’t done intentionally.
Our next fixture is against another relegated club away next Wednesday 21/5/2025 at Darlington Haughton Grange.
I am looking forward to seeing as many supporters as possible coming along to support our team.
I know this was a long message but with so much to report on I promise they will be shorter in future Ha Ha
