BGS Men's TSU Team News Number 3
Welcome to this weeks Team News. Our fixture this week was at home to Hunley Golf Club.

This week we gave a debut to one of our junior golfers, Sam Griffiths welcome to playing senior golf Sam! The scratch section won by 8 points to 4, our winners were Josh Thompson 3&2, Andy Hood 2&1, Taylor Briggs 2&1 and the machine, so he tells us all, Paul McGrath 4&2, or is it Keith ha ha, our losing players were Graeme Speight and Steve Smart.

The handicap section lost by 7 points to 5 our winners were Nic Winstanley 7&6, Nic is playing some outstanding matchplay golf at the moment well done Nic, Darren Hurst 3&1, and a point from Will Bellerby, our losing players were Phil Chadwick, Marc Symington and our junior debutant Sam Griffiths who played well but came up against a tough opponent. I would like to thank Graeme Nimmo personally, who caddied for Sam and was very complimentary of how well Sam played and how unlucky he was but the experience will only help Sam.

The final result on the night was Billingham 13 points, Hunley 11.

Remember a win is a win no matter how small the margin, all we ask is that you all do your best, which everyone does, and you enjoy your game.

I would also like to thank my friend Stewart Openshaw for his valuable assistance in helping me with the team while Neil is away on a well earned holiday. Now a big thank you to our great band of supporters old and young, our vice-captain Albert Spence BEM, as Glenn was unavailable, Colin Spence, Terry Conlon, Craig Ewen, Jack Hurst, Dave McNeill , Kirsty Smart (hope the ducklings are ok Kirsty ha,ha) Tom Lee and young Isaac Lee, (I hope you enjoyed your trips in the buggy) and last but not least our resident OAP’s Howard Gill and Robert Scotney Smith. Your support is much appreciated by all the players. Thank you to Beth and all the excellent staff as I know they had a very busy day on Wednesday with a funeral and then the ladies team match followed by a lot of very hungry men thank you Suzannah, Archie, Casey and Katy there were great compliments from all the Hunley lads with both the Parmo’s and the Salt and pepper chicken meals, they loved both so a big well done.
Also a big thank you to John Dales and his green keepers on the fantastic condition of the course. Again some great comments from our opponents and our own team players, again well done.

Our next fixture is away at Richmond Golf Club on Wednesday 4/6/2025.

I am looking forward to seeing as many of our supporters making the journey to cheer on the team it’s got to better than watching the TV!!
