Tuesday 17th saw the 3rd round of The Vets played and with a number of players on holiday or otherwise engaged, it was a relatively low turnout with just 24 players participating on the day.

However, we did see 3 players registering their first efforts this season which was great to see. They haven’t really missed out with their late starts as The Vets is a best 3 from 6 possible rounds, so it’s still all to play for.

It was a warm and bright day, however a fairly stiff breeze made it a bit of a test for the "Auld Boys" on the holes playing in to the wind and that’s reflected in some of the scoring.

Winning score on the day came from Brian Anderson (who was registering his first score in the competition) with an excellent 39 points playing from a 15 handicap.

Second highest on the day was Vets regular Gordon More with an excellent 38 points.

Now that we have 3 rounds played the “leaderboard” is starting to show some signs of shaping up with quite a number of players now having 3 scores submitted.

Donald Caskie who led after rounds 1 and 2 is still up at the top, Duncan's 3rd round 32 points whilst down on his previous 2 efforts, was still good enough to keep him at the top of the board with 111 points.

He does however now have some company at the top as Jim Stewart added 35 points to his 2 opening 38’s to have him also sitting on 111 points.

Hard on their heels is Gordon More with 109 points and just a few points behind him on 107 points is Alistair Hutson and Ali will surely be rueing a number of points frittered away by an ice cold putter.

The only 2 of the day was claimed by Ian Littlejohn on the 15th.

3 rounds down and 3 to play, and remember, it’s still all to play for as you get to drop your poorest scores and just count your best 3.
