Parks Team through to quarter Finals
On Thursday a team of elite seniors took on Aldeburgh at Gorleston Golf Club in the second round of the Suffolk Golf Union “Parks Trophy”.
Conditions were superb but with a fairly strong south easterly wind, which was “refreshing” given the very sunny conditions.
Our team comprised 4 pairs; Stephen Crosby & Kevin Woods; Kevin Snowling & Nigel Wigg; Bob Cooper & Eddie Reid; & in the anchor leg Bill Ball & Stephen Symonds. (Kevin Woods coming into the team to replace Ray Pope who was engaged elsewhere).
I am delighted to report, despite Aldeburgh fielding a very strong team, the GGC team won overall with a combined winning margin of 4 holes, under the Hambro/Myhill scoring process.
The next round is the “quarter finals” and we will be away on Thursday 17th July to either Hintlesham or Flempton.
