WCGC Seniors hosted Trevose GC on Thursday 19th June with great expectations for fine weather after the away fixture in April was abandoned in torrential rain. There were no such issues on this occasion and the teams teed off in glorious sunshine and a light breeze. The fixture was limited to 7 pairs with Trevose unable to raise a full team.

The hosts suffered an early setback going 2 down after the first 2 matches. However, any concerns were quickly quashed as the remaining 5 pairs all generated points. David Inch/Phil Thomas (W2&1), Larry Whittaker/Tony Dickinson (W2&1), David Winks/Nick Watters (W5&4) and Geoff Baylis/Ryszard Zolkiewicz (W4&3) all delivered wins, with another valuable half-point contribution from Kelvin Searle/John Frewer. The final score was a well fought 4 1/2 - 2 1/2 victory for WCGC. Well done to the team on another great home result!

Well done also to Fred Grist for taking the home team nearest the pin and a bottle of finest Tesco Merlot.

The next friendly match is an away fixture at Carlyon Bay on Friday 27th June. However, WCGC Seniors are in action again on Tuesday 24th June representing the Club in the Over 55s Team Championship at Mullion GC.
