On a hot and muggy Friday 20th June, Apsley Guise and Woburn Sands Golf Club had the pleasure of hosting the 1st of 2 Senior Captains Away Days. With the weather set fine and the course reported to be dry and bouncy with fast greens all was set for an enjoyable if testing day.

Bacon rolls and coffee consumed players proceeded to prepare for their allotted tee times. 2025 Captain Andy Price leading the way by hitting the 1st shot of the day.

The course proved tricky with very dry, hard and slanting fairways and as mentioned fast, subtle greens. Everyone after their round commented on how impressed they were by the quality of the course presentation and how much they enjoyed playing it.
With all the rounds completed it was time for refreshments, a superb lunch and the opportunity for if, what’s and maybe’s, the lucky and unlucky bounces and general golf banter. Prize giving followed with an understandable amount of stick being given to the winner.
