Seniors Struggle
Cape make the most of Home Advantage
WCGC Seniors were hosted by Cape Cornwall GC on 8 July. With a strong team and favourable conditions (partly cloudy with a light breeze) expectations were high. However, this challenging course proved tough for the team and the scores reflected home advantage.

The opening pair, Captain Dennis Fryer and Andy Hussey, secured an early point with a 2&1 victory. However, the next 4 pairs struggled to dominate with the opposition receiving most of the shots. The final pairing of Steve Blyth and Mark Adams steadied the boat with a convincing 6&4 victory. A final result of 4-2 to the hosts means the team will be looking forward to the rematch at home in September.

Well done to Mark Adams for winning the visitors nearest the pin. However, the longest drive on a fairway with a severe slope (45 degrees on my estimate) proved a challenge too far for the WC team and sadly the wine went back to the cellar.

Next up, a tricky away fixture at Truro on 14 July. A convincing win would be a special birthday treat for the captain!
