Dan completes charity golf marathon!
We did it!
I'm delighted to share that last Wednesday, I completed my 110-hole Ultra Golf Challenge. What an incredible journey it has been. I couldn't be prouder of the team of volunteers, helpers and corporate supporters involved in making the day a huge success.
A blearily eyed team of ball spotters arrived for a 3:45 start, and after a slightly wayward first drive in the darkness (oops), we made excellent progress throughout the morning. Some consistent scoring and a cheerful enthusiasm made for an uplifting atmosphere.
As caddies, ball spotters and supporters came and went, the weather remained kind, with high-factor sun cream the order of the day. We stayed slightly ahead of schedule all day, and I completed the 110th hole just before 21:00 as the sun began to set. The final numbers included 61,065 steps, 458 strokes, 148 putts and 20 birdies.
We were all delighted that Karen was able to join us afterwards to help celebrate a fantastic effort by all. I'll never forget the team spirit and warm natured atmosphere that I experienced from start to finish.
A heartfelt thank you to all the helpers who dedicated their time and effort to this cause. Your hard work and commitment made all the difference, and I couldn't have achieved this without you! Thanks to everybody's support and generosity, we have currently raised in the region of £6,500 (but we're not finished yet).
The funds will greatly benefit Karen and her family as they adapt their lives for the future. The Certa team are already plotting for the next epic challenge
