Captains Day 2025: A Day to Remember!
Yesterday’s annual Captains Day was an absolute blast, with members coming together for a day of fun, friendly competition, and charity.
This year’s format saw teams battling it out in a series of head-to-head challenges, with each player earning points for their team. To add some flair, participants were asked to don their best 70s-themed fancy dress, and they certainly didn’t disappoint. The ladies and club members embraced the challenge with style, bringing vibrant colours and infectious energy to the course. However, the Seniors’ performance in the fancy dress department left a little to be desired, with only four players truly getting into the “groovy” spirit after a pep talk from Irving, our Seniors Captain!
The ladies, however, took the day by storm—not only with their outfits but also their outstanding play. They clinched an impressive four wins, earning the maximum three points in four out of the nine matches. The Club team tried to rise to the occasion, but let’s just say, their performance was a bit like the Club Captain’s first tee shot—off to a slightly rocky start!
As for the Seniors team, their game results mirrored their efforts in the fancy dress competition—perhaps they had Irving’s words echoing in their minds!
But beyond the fun and lighthearted moments, the true purpose of the day was to come together as a community to support our charity, The Big C Charity. Many of us have experienced the devastating effects of cancer, either personally or through loved ones, so it was heartwarming to see everyone unite for this worthy cause. Thanks to your generosity, we raised over £400 for the charity—what an incredible achievement!
