Men’s Club Championship 2025
What a fantastic two days. With the weather being very changeable it meant for some challenging conditions and some great fun. Always good to see so many participants. And almost everyone turned up on day 2 irrespective of their day 1 scores – which was really heartening.
It was all played in the best spirit and there was a real sense of camaraderie and togetherness in the Clubhouse as the various contenders came in.
We saw a record 16 2’s on Day 1 – much to the greenstaff’s chagrin – but a much more regular 10 2’s on Day 2! A real well done to Mike and the team as we had so many positive comments on the course presentation over the two days! A job well done!
The food and beverage team also stepped up! Great to be in the clubhouse both yesterday and today and the atmosphere – especially this afternoon - was certainly helped by the team behind the bar.
Rick spent a lot of time over the two days working through the myriad rules queries and various connotations of Gross and Nett and 2’s etc etc –
Thanks to our starters – Gil, great to see him back – Stu, our now defacto face on the 1st tee
Billy, for keeping it all moving!
We’ve really had a great support from these guys that volunteer their time so freely and often without thanks – so thanks guys – it really is appreciated!
On to the winners…………
A fantastic first day Nett 63 meant that Mark was unlikely to be caught and he backed it up on Day 2 with a very respectable Nett 72 – so our Nett winner is:
Mark A Jones 63 + 72 = 135
Absolutely well played Mark – great to see!
As to our Club Champion always a tough competition amongst our lower handicappers and serious golfers – there were a few players this year with chances and the day 1 leader has often come a cropper on day 2! The weather certainly didn’t help any of the later starters today – so our club champ has had to really fight the conditions! But he put in a very valiant effort and it’s great to see his name on this esteemed list:
Paul Butterworth 71 + 79 = 150
Well done Paul! A deserving champion and I’m sure you’ll all join us in congratulating him!
A really fun 2 days and I hope we can get as good a turnout and as fun a few days next year! Hopefully with better weather!
