Don’t risk a disqualification or a ban
Reminder
In recent weeks there has been a noticeable increase in members failing to stick to procedures for competitions and score entries.
Among other things this has led to players being disqualified, other players being left on the tee with no playing partner or marker – and even England Golf and Essex County intervening to ask the Handicap Committee to review players’ scorecards.
Golf is a game where integrity and respect for the rules are essential if everyone is to be able to compete on an equal basis.
So, this is a polite reminder of what we expect as a minimum from every member at Stoke by Nayland.
If you enter a competition, you must:
• Turn up on the day of the competition and take your place
• Pay the appropriate entry fee before you play
• Sign in via How Did I Do mobile phone app or PSI before you go to the first tee
• Enter your score via the mobile phone app as soon as possible after you finish play
• Name a marker and enter the score of the person whose card you marked
Failing to do any of the above puts you at risk of disqualification or, in the case of people not showing up, you could face disciplinary action and a possible competition ban.
General Play scores
In addition to standards slipping on competitions, there has been an increase in members asking Pro Shop staff to input General Play scores for them. This is not allowed as General Play scores have to be pre-registered online before play commences.
You have a responsibility for your own WHS handicap. You must pre-register, input your own score, and you must name a marker or England Golf will ask the Club to investigate.
Please do not ask Pro Shop staff to input scores. And, with immediate effect, the Club is advising all members to ONLY use the My England Golf App and NOT How Did I Do for returning General Play scores.
In this way, you effectively cut out the middleman, send your score directly to England Golf and, by naming a marker, EG will automatically message them to attest your score.
Please help the Club by following these simple rules.
