Weekly News Update
Junior Open & Ladies Events Success
We are delighted to share the success of two recent highlights. Our Junior Open welcomed talented players from across Cheshire competing in the prestigious Daily Telegraph tournament. The atmosphere was fantastic, and it was wonderful to see so many young golfers showcasing their skills.

Our Ladies Open was equally outstanding, with over 160 participants from across the North West taking part. Both events were made possible thanks to our dedicated volunteers – a heartfelt thank you to everyone who gave their time and energy. Your support truly makes the difference.

Course Feedback
The feedback from members and visitors has been overwhelmingly positive, with many praising the excellent condition of the course. It’s always encouraging to see the hard work of our greens team recognised.

Greens Renovation – 26th to 28th August
As part of our annual maintenance programme, essential work will take place on the greens between Tuesday 26th and Thursday 28th August.
This year’s focus will be on thatch control, surface improvement, and increasing bent grass population. Agronomy testing has confirmed there is no need to hollow core, meaning reduced disruption during the works.
The planned process includes:
Deep scarifying with the Koro machine to a depth of 15–20mm
Sorrel rolling to create a seed bed
Overseeding followed by heavy sand dressing (sand may remain visible for a few days if damp)
Possible micro-tining, depending on timing and weather
Application of fertiliser and irrigation to aid recovery

Surfaces will remain playable each day, and we aim to complete the work with minimal interruption to play.

Clubhouse Upgrades
We are pleased to announce that the Board has approved the upgrade of the Conservatory area. Work is scheduled to begin in late September/early October and will bring the space in line with the style and quality of our recently improved Spike Bar. This will further enhance the clubhouse experience for members and visitors alike.

Ladies Captain’s Day
On Wednesday, Jenny Hunt hosted a superb Ladies Captain’s Day, enjoyed by all. The day concluded with an excellent meal and presentation from our catering team – a perfect way to celebrate the occasion.

Club Access Gates
The long-awaited gate upgrade has now been completed. We ask all members to ensure their cards are swiped at the bar so they can be activated before we remove the existing access code.

Practice Ground Update
A special thank you to Colin for collecting hundreds of golf balls from the practice ground surrounds. As part of our long-term plan, low-level fencing will be installed to help prevent stray balls in this area.

We recognise there are always challenges around the course and site, but we remain committed to finding solutions and continuously improving our course, clubhouse, and member experience.

Once again, thank you to all our volunteers for your contribution in making all of this possible.
