What's been happening
Dear member
Another scorching week of weather, great for playing golf and enjoying everything outdoors, not so good for growing grass!! That said, the bent grass over-seed programme, now in it's third year, has once again been a success. As members might have noticed, we now have a chequerboard type effect of different coloured grasses caused by the germination of the bent grass. Well done to the greens team!
Reports coming in from the course are positive and despite Duncans concerns, I'm told the greens were great on Sunday morning for the major. It won't be long until they are back to their absolute best.
Whilst I'm in no hurry to wish the season away, we are getting toward the back end of the competitive year. The club championship is just around the corner, this year being played over two days, Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th September. Please enter on Club V1. It should be a great event, with the mens, ladies and Junior titles being played for across the two days.
It's worth noting that all major winners will be invited to the end of season presentation on Saturday 22nd November. So if you needed an extra incentive to win one of the final few majors, there's still a few up for grabs, not just the club championships.
Our final BBQ and Texas scramble is also being played next Friday, 29th August, again, please sign up on club V1.
Apologies for the work taking place alongside the driveway, they have been pretty good at not stopping traffic too often and are pretty much finished as of this evening.
They have been installing fibre optic cable to all properties along the drive.
Next Wednesday sees the conclusion of the 9 hole Grand Prix, a culmination of 18 weeks golf. Thank you to everyone that supports this event week in week out. The bar and kitchen have been kept busy almost every Wednesday which is the whole idea from the clubs perspective, so thank you again!
