Nothing particularly newsworthy this week. We’ve mainly been prepping for two external events - a County Seniors match versus Cumbria on Thursday and the Eaton Talbot on Saturday. ‘Prepping’ includes mowing the course throughout, of course, red lining the hazards, extra attention to the bunkers and new holes cut.
We have cut the areas of long rough that are not accessible to the farmer’s massive machinery and also spray/weedkilled around the new trees to help them grow strong - DEFRA will be back to inspect them 5 years on.
The greens speed, as measured on Saturday morning after cutting and rolling immediately before the Talbot teed off, was 9’ 7”.
