The early starters struggled to make their mark with home pairs dominating the first 4 tees. At 4-0 down in the clubhouse, the team feared the worst until the magic was found by the fifth pairing of Geoff Baylis and Jim Sinclair Smith who broke the home run with a vital half point. This was quickly followed by 2 further points from Nick Watters/Andy Hussey (2&1) and Malcolm Cadman/Ryszard Zolkiewicz (1UP). Mullion topped up their tally with a win in the final pairing to give an overall victory of 5 1/2 to 2 1/2 to the hosts.
Well done to Geoff Baylis for winning the nearest the pin on 16th and a bottle of port. His team members were expecting to share his win with a toast but were dismayed to find that Geoff had squirrelled the bottle to his car before it could be tasted.
Next up, a home match against St Austell on Thursday 25th September.
