“Strangely this was the third time I had a hole in one on this self-same hole!
The distance measured roughly 160 yds which for me, these days, is a nice soft 3 wood.
I was happy to see the ball hold the correct line …. going straight with a slight touch of draw! It bounced just short of the green and rolled on towards the flag!
I suspected it may be close but, from that distance, I could not be sure where it ended up!
On approaching the green, I noticed no ball was visible. My three golfing colleagues balls were short of the green’s surface leaving me to think disappointingly that my ball may have run through to the back!
I made my way to the rear of the green only to discover that the area was devoid of any golf ball what do ever.
It was only then that I began to seriously hope that my ball may in the cup!
In the meantime Bill Hodgson putted up to two foot from the flag and marked his ball!
I asked him to peek into the hole and hopefully tell me the good news…
Eureka !!!! there it was, as Bill said, with my shamrock logo shining up from the bottom of the cup!
A huge swell of golfer’s elation past over me as I realised the feat I had just accomplished!
I accepted the congratulations of my three golfing partners and moved on to the next tee in an exhilarated state of thankfulness and joy!”
Congratulations Joe, although 3 Holes-in-One on the same hole is showing off a bit!!
