The other great reveal was the trialling of the Golf Genius App, to score the competition. M&H had successfully used it earlier in the season for both the Edward and Tennant Cups. Simply - the App is downloaded - your code is entered - and you enter your teams score at each hole. The App records, works out net scores and disturbingly even updates your teams position on the way round.
At Breakfast our Scramble of choice a ‘Florida Scramble’ was described:
All Drive - whoever’s Drive is chosen, they ‘DON’T’ play the next shot - Repeat until the ball is in the hole. No designated number of drives.
Breakfast and instructions all digested, we made our way to our allocated shotgun tee start. A lovely eclectic mix of golfing ability, ages and sexes took to the fairways. The weather was kind to us, indeed for most, one layer came off later in the round. The course was in fabulous condition. Not a GUR in sight, the greens fully recovered from their coring and running true and quick. Remarkable considering we are only two weeks away from November. Many thanks to Paul and his team in presenting the course in such fabulous condition.
There was a buzz about the place as we changed and gathered in the Kelvin suite for lunch. All had enjoyed their ‘Florida Scramble’ experience and there were no casualties on the Golf Genius App front. The App had done the ‘Return’ for M&H. This was a day when our teams on the podium play second fiddle to the announcement of the Club's nominee for next year's Vice Captain.
VC Stuart Neilson in time honoured tradition revealed their nomination - Ex-Finance Convenor Gordon Miller. Gordon is a Past Captain of Clydebank and District GC and an Ex-Scottish Boys Golf International Captain and member of GB&I Boys team. He is an Ex-Banker and also worked for Canadian company Semex involved in the bovine genetics industry.
The usual long lunch extended into the early evening. As the drink flowed, a cake emerged and a rendering of ‘Happy Birthday’ for 74yo Paul ‘PC’ Crilley.
PC needed no encouragement to get to his feet and deliver his words of wisdom.
Thank you to Chef Mihai, Julie & Foxy and their Teams for looking after us throughout another super day out at Killermont
