October Update
Competition Round up
It’s been a busy and exciting few weeks at Carlisle, with strong competition turnouts, some brilliant individual performances, and a fantastic showcase for the club on a national stage. Here’s a look back at the recent highlights.
Head Pro Challenge – Peter Finch vs. Carlisle GC
Earlier this month we had the fantastic opportunity to welcome Peter Finch and his filming team to Carlisle as part of his Head Pro Challenge series.
The atmosphere on the day was incredible, thank you to everyone who came out to support and represent the club. It was a brilliant experience and a great chance to show off our course and membership to a huge audience.

Williamson Qualifier – Update
Our first Williamson of the year was unfortunately cancelled due to dreadful weather, but since then, we’ve had three excellent qualifying events with strong turnouts of 110, 127, and 108 players respectively.
There’s been some fantastic scoring across all divisions:
Qualifier 2
Division 1 – Warren Matthews (42 points)
Division 2 – Tony Foster (41 points on countback)
Qualifier 3
Division 1 – Barry Hetherington (41 points)
Division 2 – Andrew Bell (41 points)
Qualifier 4
Division 1 – David Mitchell (40 points)
Division 2 – Shaun Reilly (44 points off 13 handicap)
A quick reminder:
All Williamson events are qualifiers for the Grand Final, which will be played in April.
To qualify, players need to score 37 points or more in any of the 12 Williamson events held across the winter season.

Mercedes Order of Merit – Current Standings
Running alongside the Williamson Cup qualifiers, our Mercedes-Benz Order of Merit leader board is starting to take shape:
1st – Warren Matthews (340 points)
2nd – Mark Gilbertson (310 points)
3rd – Shaun Reilly & Andrew Bell (250 points)
Congratulations to those leading the way — and with plenty of events still to come, there’s everything to play for.
Standout Performances
Shaun Reilly – take a bow
A sensational 44-point round in Qualifier 4, going out in 27 points for the front nine (three under par gross), including a birdie–birdie start and more birdies at the 4th and 9th.
Robbie Cullen – pure class
In Qualifier 3, Robbie produced 40 points off 1 handicap, going round in a gross 68. Long drives and an immaculate short game combined for a superb performance.
Gary Pollard – timeless golf
Qualifier 2 saw Gary deliver a truly special round — five birdies, one bogey, and a gross 67, scoring 40 points. A birdie at the last would have seen him beat his age – remarkable golf.

Ladies’ Section – Battling the Elements
The Ladies braved possibly the worst weather of the year for their recent 18-hole Stableford. Congratulations to everyone who stuck it out on the day — it was a real test of commitment and character.
Winner: Lynn Hill – 38 points

Course Care – Winter Mats from 1st November
Now that winter is upon us, we all need to play our part in protecting the course and supporting the great work our greenkeeping team continue to do through the colder months.
From Friday 1st November, the use of fairway mats will be compulsory for all play from closely mown areas.
These small steps make a huge difference in preserving turf quality and ensuring the course remains in excellent condition ready for next season.
Thank you for your cooperation and care.
